Ettore Software is not a multi-billion-dollar company with R&D resources to match those that went into producing Apple's QuickType algorithms. It is primarily a notepad app, not a standalone keyboard. TypeIt4Me Touch 3.0 is not intended for use as a permanent replacement for the built-in Apple keyboard. Your mileage may vary and you may find that to avoid making mistakes you need to take greater care when typing. The excellent corrective and predictive features of Apple's QuickType are not available while the TypeIt4Me Touch keyboard is active. However, there is an important caveat: extensibility does *not* allow us to seamlessly 'hook in' to the native keyboard the way we are able to on the Mac. That said, the experience won't be quite the same as what you may be accustomed to on the Mac platform. TypeIt4Me Touch 3.0 leverages extensibility to give you the ability to easily switch keyboards and use TypeIt4Me expansions in any app on your iDevice. It allows indie developers like us to create apps that offer special add-ons that can do things the built-in Apple keyboard can't. However, in iOS 8 and above, Apple offers what's been dubbed "extensibility", which opens things up a little. Until relatively recently, Apple was keen to completely "sandbox" third party iOS apps, locking them down so that they couldn't interfere with each other and potentially wreak havoc. This *is* now possible - to a degree - but only on devices running iOS 8 or above and TypeIt4Me Touch 3.0.x. OK.Will Apple *ever* allow TypeIt4Me Touch for iOS to work the same way the original Mac version does?
Don't forget, it is possible to send notes directly as emails without leaving the TypeIt4Me app - and you can easily tweet them or send them as iMessages, too. The workaround for this is to compose notes using your expanding abbreviations inside TypeIt4Me Touch, then copy and paste the text into other apps. For this reason, in iOS 7 and older versions TypeIt4Me Touch 2.0 and other text expanders can't work in a seamlessly integrated way across a whole range of other apps the way their Mac counterparts can. Up to and including iOS 7, Apple places strict limits on how third party apps can interact with each other, effectively obliging them to remain self-contained. We'd love to be able to offer the same degree of functionality and convenience in both, but unfortunately it's out of our hands.
